Transactional and Public Finance
PJJ practices in the areas of public finance, real estate and corporate finance, bankruptcy and commercial foreclosures. The breadth of the firm's experience, especially that of its partners, enables the firm to handle a wide range of transactional matters ranging from public finance to bank financings. We also have represented clients in the acquisition and sale of small businesses.
PJJ offers extensive experience and expertise in all areas of public finance, including tax, securities and real estate law. Since its inception in 1991, PJJ has served as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, special tax counsel, issuer's counsel, co-bond counsel, and co-underwriter's counsel for various state and local governmental entities and on many of the largest and most creative financings in the state. These include pension and unemployment bond financings for the State of Illinois and the sale of the Chicago Skyway toll bridge. We are pleased to be the first certified minority firm to act as lead bond counsel for financings by the State of Illinois, the City of Chicago, and other bond issuers. The firm also frequently represents banks providing credit enhancement for bond issues and has extensive experience with interest rate swaps, guaranteed investment contracts and other financial products.
In addition to public finance, PJJ represents borrower and lenders in conventional asset-based loans. PJJ provides general corporate legal services to its corporate clients. The firm routinely assists clients with annual reporting requirements and preparation for annual meetings. In addition, we have represented clients for more complicated matters, including the sale of an out-of- state radio network and asset-based lending transactions. Due to the breadth of our experience, we are able to handle both routine corporate matters for our clients as well as far more complex transactions.
PJJ is listed as bond counsel in the Redbook and the attorneys who practice in the area of public finance are members of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
