In recent years, PJJ has devoted a large portion of its practice to defending corporate clients and individuals against employment-related claims. Our firm has broad experience in handling the full range of employment disputes, including gender, age, race and other discrimination claims arising out of single decisions as well as broader reductions in force, "whistleblower" and other wrongful discharge and benefits claims in individual as well as class action cases. Our experience ranges from the administrative charge stage, discovery and trials in federal and state courts, as well as appeals. We also counsel a variety of clients in effective ways to avoid these types of claims by proactive corporate policies and have had success with mediating such disputes as a means of controlling corporate costs and limiting the drain of corporate time spent on litigation. In several of our cases, we have expanded the defenses available to employers in the Seventh Circuit.
